Trump and Gorbachev

The law of the jungle, whose stick is its buffalo or the philosophy of might as right has been ruling the world for most of human history, but after seeing the devastating results of the two world wars in the last century, all the nations of the world had decided that they would settle their differences and disputes not by force and on the battlefield but at the negotiating table and joint efforts would be made for the development and prosperity of the entire human community.

The historic conference for this purpose was organized by the United States, which emerged as the largest global power after World War II. 80 years ago today, representatives of fifty countries in San Francisco agreed to form an international organization for the sake of world peace after about two months of deliberation from April 25 to June 26, 1945. The then US President Franklin D. Roosevelt suggested the name of this organization as the United Nations Organization. The Charter of this organization was presented to the world with the declaration that “We, the Members of the United Nations, have determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war. We will ensure the restoration of fundamental human rights and to promote respect for and dignity of human beings. We will ensure the equal rights of men and women, of nations large and small. We will create conditions in which the obligations imposed by treaties and international law can be fulfilled. In a larger atmosphere of freedom, the pace of social progress and the standard of life can be improved.” The establishment of the United Nations and then the leading role of the United States under its patronage gave it the impression of being the global standard bearer of human rights, freedom and international peace and security. It gained the position of the leader of the civilized world and, in fact, played a very valuable role in the development of the entire human community through the establishment of higher educational institutions and scientific research organizations. The full support of American governments for global health, climate change and other institutions related to human welfare established under the United Nations contributed to the well-being of people all over the world. American cooperation with the United Nations has also proved fruitful in many international conflicts. However, due to America's lack of interest in a fair settlement of the issues of Palestine and Kashmir, and its support for the occupying powers, as well as its unjustified military interventions in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, a large section of world public opinion began to describe it as an imperialist power rather than a peaceful democratic power. By using the weapon of veto in the United Nations Security Council indiscriminately and improperly, the United States adopted an attitude of supporting its promotion instead of eliminating oppression and oppression from the world, and thus badly affected the reputation of the United Nations and itself.

This behavior of American leadership is seen at new extremes today. The current President of the United States, Donald Trump, has become a god of war after claiming to end eight wars and being entitled to the Nobel Peace Prize on this basis. After the open aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its leader, President Maduro, along with his wife, his open intentions to use the country's vast oil reserves for the United States indefinitely, and his declarations of aggression against several other countries after Venezuela, have taken away the air of his claims of peace friendship. Among these countries, Greenland, which is rich in rare minerals and administered by Denmark and is two thousand miles away from the United States, seems to be his first target. He is making open threats to Iran and has once again given clear indications of attacking it in collusion with Israel, apparently because Iran is a major obstacle in the path of the Greater Israel plan of the Zionist rulers who have adopted America. A few hours after the operation in Venezuela, President Trump warned Colombian President Gustavo Petro to also celebrate his chair. It should be noted that Venezuela's western neighbor Colombia is not only rich in oil reserves, but also has gold, silver, platinum, emeralds and coal mines. Like Venezuela and Colombia, Donald Trump accused Mexico of drug trafficking and said in a conversation with reporters last Sunday that it seems that something will have to be done against it. President Trump is turning global public opinion against not only himself but also his country. Instead of his country's position as the leader of the civilized world as a champion of human rights and peace and justice, Trump is proving it to be a force that imposes the law of the jungle in the world. With a recent move, he has also arranged to further solidify this impression. Yesterday, he announced the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations, including 31 United Nations organizations, including several institutions and organizations on public health, climate change, and humanitarian assistance. In this way, President Trump himself is on the path of depriving his country of the leadership and leadership of the international community, which may lead to the end of America's international importance in the next few years, just as the Soviet Union was destroyed by former Russian President Gorbachev in the last decade of the last century. If this had happened, it is quite possible that Donald Trump would earn the title of American Gorbachev in world political history.
