Islamabad: The federal government has reduced the interest rates on the important national savings schemes Defense and Welfare Savings Certificates and has issued new rates for September 2026. According to the details, the Government of Pakistan has announced a reduction in the interest rates on the well-known national savings schemes “Defense Savings Certificates and Welfare Savings Certificates”. New rates have been issued for September 2026. Under the new interest rate, the tenure of Defense Savings Certificates is fixed at 10 years, in which an investment of Rs. 100,000 will be received at the time of maturity. On an investment of Rs. 100,000, an amount of Rs. 110,000 will be received in the first year, Rs. 121,000 in the second year, Rs. 133,000 in the third year, Rs. 147,000 in the fourth year and Rs. 163,000 in the fifth year. On an investment of Rs. 100,000 in the sixth year, an investment of Rs. 182,000 will be received, Rs. 204,000 in the seventh year, Rs. 230,000 in the eighth year and Rs. 262,000 in the ninth year, while on maturity in the tenth year, the amount will be Rs. 300,000. On the other hand, the interest rate on Behbood Savings Certificates has also been reduced. Under the new rate, an investment of Rs. 100,000 will be received at a monthly profit of Rs. 1,050, which is calculated on an annual basis. 12.60 percent. Behbood Savings Certificates were introduced keeping in mind the financial needs of widows and senior citizens.
