PTI threatens to protest again if government's attitude does not change

It has been 15 days since the imposition of emergency and governor's rule, no vision of the government has emerged, Shaukat Yousafzai

There is no forward bloc in PTI, the party is united under the leadership of Barrister Gauhar, is in touch with the parliamentary party,

Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has threatened the government that if the attitude does not change, it will start protest again. PTI's Provincial Information Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai has said that the party is standing between resistance and reconciliation politics, the decision will be based on the government's attitude, peaceful protests can start again if the government does not provide political space. Shaukat Yousafzai said that it has been 15 days since the imposition of emergency and governor's rule, no vision of the government has emerged, due to the government's poor policies and incompetence, the country is standing in a dead end, the economy is on a ventilator, the country is running on loans, inflation and unemployment has made the life of the people forbidden.

He said that the PTI should get political space, the party stands between resistance and reconciliation politics, the decision will be based on the government's attitude, if the government does not give political space, peaceful protests can start again. He said that there is no forward bloc in the PTI, the party is united under the leadership of Barrister Gauhar, they are in touch with the parliamentary party, no forward bloc is being formed. The Information Secretary of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that he has told the YouTubers abroad that now there is no need for advice from you, the party will take forward Imran Khan's narrative, only a meeting with Imran Khan can pave the way for negotiations. He said that the imposition of emergency is an attempt to end the integration of the former FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there is concern about the crackdown against party workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all innocent workers including the sisters and wife of the founder PTI should be released immediately.

Shaukat Yousafzai said that the government's performance is zero, it is claiming to make rivers of milk and honey flow in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that any narrative of YouTubers against institutions has nothing to do with PTI, the government has not fulfilled the constitutional requirements for imposing emergency and governor's rule, it is expected that the Peshawar High Court may come up with an important decision in this regard. He said that he always fought peacefully, never said that he would break the jail and take out Imran Khan, if he had to come out of the deal, Imran Khan would have come out three years ago, Imran Khan wants the courts to hear his cases, I agree that there has been a lack of trust between the leadership and workers, it is time that the workers are taken into confidence in decision-making, the workers of PTI are a great asset of the party.

PTI's internal conflict

PTI's internal conflict, internal chaos, organizational crisis, and its political strategy have weakened it politically.

PTI's internal conflict, internal chaos, organizational crisis, and its political strategy have weakened it politically. Whatever strategy the Long March had, it proved to be quite flawed. PTI's central leadership is trying to save itself by blaming the failure of the Long March on former Chief Minister of the province, Sohail Afridi. If Sohail Afridi was responsible for this adventure, how can the central leadership itself absolve itself of this failure? Because this entire leadership was supporting the Long March.

Similarly, while the failure of the talks between the PTI leadership and the government during the Long March is being blamed on the government, the inflexible attitude of the PTI leadership also failed the talks. The various factions that are formed against each other, from the central leadership of PTI to the provincial leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have also damaged the party's affairs. It seems that the party chairman Barrister Gauhar also does not have the authority to make party decisions at the party level that he should have. Many people in PTI are also in contact with non-political forces behind the scenes, but despite all their contacts and good relations with non-political forces, they have not been able to provide relief at any level to the founders of PTI or the men imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail and political leaders.

Even today, PTI has a vote bank. But the PTI leadership must admit that they have not created any major public struggle in the political arena and have not put any major pressure on the government. could not create. Especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where his own government has been in power for the past thirteen years, his party has been deprived of the public struggle due to the political constraints of power.

Similarly, in PTI, there was an objection to the earlier appointment of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas in the National Assembly and Senate by the founder of PTI, and now in the recent core committee meeting, a demand has also come up for a change of opposition leaders. There was also an objection to holding a long march or not. If one group was in favor of the long march, the other group was against it and its position was that in the current circumstances, we should not adopt a policy of direct confrontation and such a policy of confrontation would not be in the party's interest.

It is not correct to say that the current leadership of PTI did not hold direct or secret talks with the government and the forces behind it to create a favorable environment for itself in the political situation. But no major progress has been made in improving matters and reconciliation. For example, we hear news that how can reconciliation be possible on the basis of the minus one formula, that is, the founder of PTI not being accepted, political silence, a language ban for a few years or exile or transfer outside and the de facto transfer of party leadership to the new leader. Because one basic thing must be understood that in the past, politics has been based on minus one in national politics but it could not be successful. Imran Khan will not accept such conditions. The current leadership of the party also believes that the vote bank belongs to Imran Khan and that is why his leadership and the members of the assembly do not have the capacity to agree on the minus one formula.

It must be admitted that despite all the internal conflicts in the PTI, the party is still standing and its MLAs are connected to the party despite all the difficulties because they believe that without Imran Khan, they have no political status. But the PTI must also admit that while it could not create much pressure on the government with its large public power, there are also aspects of weakness in its parliamentary politics in the federal and Punjab or at the Senate level. In particular, the weak role of the Punjab parliamentary party in the parliamentary forum has been seen. It is understandable that they faced stiff resistance from the government and practically their political activities were also banned. But they could have used the parliamentary forum better under their strategy.

There is no doubt that PTI's digital media, despite the restrictions imposed on it by the formal media, has made good use of it and has kept its resistance alive. But some elements have used the power of the same digital media negatively, which has caused practical damage to PTI at the institutional level. In principle, a balanced policy is required to improve relations between PTI and the government, and eliminating any party, putting it on a wall, banning it, or using the minus one formula is not a solution to the problems. Because reconciliation is not possible by imposing an agenda or on the basis of dictation, and reconciliation is linked to mutual acceptance. Similarly, the policy of anti-state accusations against any party also weakens internal politics.

As far as the internal or organizational conflict of PTI is concerned, we keep seeing this story at the level of various political parties. Because our parties are weak in the context of internal democracy and here individuals have the power compared to democracy. The founder of PTI has been in jail for many years and does not even have access to his party leaders. Therefore, the story of the internal conflict of the party is also understandable. But despite this, the party's leadership that is outside should have ended its internal crisis and conflict, but they could not. Similarly, the tragedy of PTI is that its four important leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Mian Mehmood Rashid, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry and Omar Sarfraz Cheema are in jail. If this leadership had been outside, they could have played an important role in reducing the current internal conflict and conflict. On the other hand, the current central leadership has not received any help from its senior leadership in Kot Lakhpat Jail regarding political decisions, which is why the party is constantly facing major setbacks.

Similarly, those in jails of PTI have a grievance with the current party leadership that they seem to be standing behind in fighting their political case. In difficult situations in politics, it is important to find a way out for yourself and this is a test for the party and its leadership. This type of policy has a take-or-give-it-all mentality and this is possible only when flexibility is created for each other. Therefore, it is time for the current leadership of PTI to review the strategy or hardline policy of the last three years and understand where they made mistakes and under what new political strategy we now need to secure our path or survival in the political arena. Because in these circumstances, clashes? And policies like long marches are not in PTI’s favor and neither can they be allowed to engage in such activities.

Similarly, this policy also applies to the government. It is understandable that the government’s problem is that it would want a clash between PTI and the establishment for its political survival. The policy of continuing. But this policy will not be the right strategy in the current situation of great political division. PTI should find a political path and Imran Khan's sisters and those of them who are in jail should be released. Anyway, among the major crises we are going through in the governance system, one of the major political problems is the political instability in the country and it should be ended and on this basis we can control the war on economic and security or terrorism-related issues.

No more trust in those who mock the talks, if there is to be talks, the Prime Minister himself should invite them, the opposition

The authority of the Speaker should be according to the book of laws. Production orders are issued for some members of the National Assembly, while some are not.

He said that millions of people took to the streets in France, hundreds of vehicles were set on fire, the F Tower was set on fire, but no shots were fired at the protesters. The opposition leader said, "Who will trust those who make fun of the talks now? Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that the government has made it clear that the Prime Minister himself should invite us for talks, now there will be no talks in a mocking manner.

He said that a committee should be formed to investigate corruption allegations in the current government under the leadership of Khawaja Asif. The opposition leader said, "We will fight against the undemocratic system in a democratic way and it is the duty of every citizen who wants to save Pakistan to stand up for democracy. The powerful parliament and institutions in Pakistan should be within its purview." He said that no matter what happens, we will not hand over Pakistan to an undemocratic system because this system is a way to break the country. Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, said that the rule of law and justice are essential for the development of the country. Without the constitution and the rule of law, the political crisis cannot be resolved, while the economic crisis cannot be resolved without the rule of law.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that justice and fairness are necessary to restore the public’s trust in the system, the lack of trust between the rulers and the people is the highest in the history of Pakistan at this time, despite which the series of fake cases and FIRs continues. He said that on February 8, 2026, the public mandate was robbed, the robbery of the people’s right to vote and vote is the biggest robbery, the robbery of the people’s vote is tantamount to an attack on the constitution and law.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar said that three years of the assembly are about to pass and we have not understood the formula of loyalty to the state till date. We have always said that Pakistan comes first and the state comes first. He said that we are treated and treated as if we are not loyal to the state. This concept should end. While negotiating with the government, our government left. We sat in negotiations with sincerity and without any conditions. Barrister Gohar Ali In September 2024, when the members were removed, the opposition leader presented a resolution in the assembly. Parliamentarians should be protected so that they can speak for the people freely. A special committee was formed in the parliament to protect members. The PTI Chairman said that PTI's plaques are broken but PML-N's plaques are not broken. The hearts of the people are being broken and hatred is being incited by breaking the plaques.

We are loyal to Pakistan and the state and will always remain loyal while continuing to fight for democracy. He said that the founder demands a meeting with the PTI. Today, the founder's wife, Three sisters, nephew and cousin are in jail, the nation will demand answers from us, why are members of a political family kept in jail. Barrister Gohar said that terrorism is a disease, it must end at all costs and actions should be taken under the National Action Plan. A narrative of hatred should not be created in the name of this war, politically motivated transfers and demolition of plaques are operations against terrorism or an attempt to wipe out the party. The PTI chairman said that he supports action against terrorism, not political revenge, the people will decide these measures.

We disagree with imposing decisions made elsewhere on Parliament, Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Isn't there terrorism in Balochistan? All the emergencies that have come are on the account of the PPP, JUI-F chief

Who spoke strongly against the army in the past? Who took the name of former Army Chief General Bajwa in rallies?

A unified national policy against terrorism should be formed, political parties should be taken into confidence by calling an in-camera session of Parliament, talking to the media

Lahore: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that this decision should be made by the parliament, who is the supreme? If it is the supreme, then let it decide, decisions should be made elsewhere and imposed on the parliament. We disagree with this, is there terrorism in Balochistan? All the emergencies that have come are in the account of the PPP. A unified national policy against terrorism should be formulated and an in-camera session of the Parliament should be called in this regard and all political parties should be taken into confidence. Without taking the people into confidence, their full participation in the war against terrorism cannot be ensured. I am loyal to the state and appreciate those who have made sacrifices for the country. However, it is my democratic right to disagree with policies. Have I spoken against the army or did Mian Nawaz Sharif himself? I have never criticized institutions but have discussed state policies.

Talking to the media, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the government and state institutions should respect the opinions of political parties and citizens instead of making fun of their sacrifices. We are not making fun of the sacrifices made for the country, but are discussing policies so that they can be reformed. He said that over the past years, 250 scholars and workers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam have been martyred in terrorist incidents. Despite these sacrifices, if terrorism is increasing instead of decreasing, then it is necessary to seriously examine the reasons for this.

He raised the question that there are no terrorist incidents in Balochistan? Instead of imposing the policy unilaterally, the policy against terrorism should be formulated in consultation with all political parties. An in-camera session of the Parliament should be called to review the challenges, strategies and results facing the country so that a joint struggle can be waged against terrorism by taking the nation into confidence.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that when a person points a finger at another, the other fingers are also pointing at him. Who spoke strongly against the army in the past? Who took the name of former Army Chief General Bajwa in rallies? He said that I have never criticized military institutions, but have raised questions regarding the country's economy, investment and state policies. Why is there no investment in Pakistan while investment is happening in neighboring countries? Discussing such questions is not anti-nationalism but an attempt at reform. He said that in 2013 too, our differences had come to the fore on the issue of emergency in Balochistan and we had resigned in protest. Adopting constitutional procedures has its place, but it is also important to see whether any measure is consistent with democratic principles. He said that national consensus is necessary for an effective strategy against terrorism and the government should also listen to the suggestions of the opposition. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that a delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa came to him with a request for mediation, after which the government delegation also contacted him and was formally invited by the Prime Minister. He participated in the negotiation process with the mandate of the opposition and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, where the demands of the parties were revealed and efforts were made to move matters forward. For progress in the negotiations, it is necessary for the parties to recognize the role of an impartial mediator.

Regarding Saudi Arabia, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that Saudi Arabia is a reliable friend of Pakistan and has long-standing relations with it. We condemn the attack on Saudi Arabia and stand with the Saudi leadership and people. We are also with Saudi Arabia on the issue of protecting the Two Holy Mosques. He added that the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is also increasing its political activities in Punjab and the participation of the people in the meetings is encouraging. A meeting will be held in Sargodha next month. He said that to address the challenge of terrorism facing the country, a common course of action in the national interest must be adopted, transcending political differences.

PTI government should be restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shandana Gulzar

All the disappeared members of the National and Provincial Assembly, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Speaker should be brought to the fore, such strictness is not seen even during martial law as it is today

Peshawar: Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Speaker, along with countless members of the National and Provincial Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have been arrested, while the Governor's Rule contractors are not taking a clear stand in this regard. These views were expressed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's female member of the National Assembly Shandana Gulzar while talking to the media at the Peshawar High Court. She said that on the one hand, our leaders were arrested, on the other hand, Governor's Rule was imposed on our elected government, which is unconstitutional. She said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which was elected by the people's votes, was exposed to bloodshed and the Form 47 people imposed emergency in 12 districts and are now making decisions of their own accord by imposing Governor's Rule in the entire province.

She said that such strictness is not seen even during martial law as the strictness is being imposed. The people are being deprived of their right to protest and the Chief Minister and Speaker and the members of the National and Provincial Assembly have been made silent by disappearing. He said that we demand that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government be restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and all the disappeared members of the National and Provincial Assembly and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Speaker be brought to the fore immediately.

Pakistan’s two $67 billion loan programs at risk, World Bank

Political and administrative problems, economic uncertainty, institutional weaknesses are major obstacles to program implementation.

The programs aim to promote economic stability, improve public service delivery, and increase tax collections to 15 percent.

Most of the targets associated with the release of funds, continuous progress in the implementation of the reform program are commendable, report

Washington: The World Bank has described two loan programs worth about $670 million in Pakistan related to tax reforms and digital services as moderately satisfactory, but has also identified risks to their success. According to the World Bank, political and administrative problems, economic uncertainty and institutional weaknesses are major obstacles to the effective implementation of these programs. According to a recent World Bank report, both programs aim to promote economic stability in Pakistan, improve public service delivery and increase the ratio of tax collections to 15 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). The report describes the $700 million financial assistance under the Pakistan Public Resources for Inclusive Development (PRID) Program as moderately satisfactory, but the overall risk rating for it is significant. A key goal of this program is to increase the ratio of tax collections from 12.3 percent in June 2025 to 15 percent by June 2030.

According to the World Bank, political and governance risks, economic conditions, institutional capacity, financial discipline, and environmental and social standards issues could affect program implementation. According to the report, an advance of $164.52 million was released under the program on June 29. The World Bank appreciated the significant progress made against most of the targets associated with the release of funds, describing it as a reflection of continued progress in implementing the reform program. The World Bank and the Government of Pakistan are working together to streamline technical assistance arrangements and mitigate the impact of delays in approval processes following changes in the project’s activities and cost allocation.

The report also identified delays in the formation of the Governing Council of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and the appointment of the Chief Statistician. According to the World Bank, the position of Chief Statistician should not remain vacant under the terms of the program and it is not acceptable to temporarily assign this responsibility to a current government official. According to the report, the position has been vacant since September 24, 2026. The World Bank has also rated the $70 million Connected Punjab Program for promoting digital services in Punjab as medium to significant risk due to political, administrative, economic and financial risks. The program is effective from the beginning of the current fiscal year and will continue until June 2031. The bank acknowledged that the program has strong support at the highest level of the Punjab government and the Punjab Information Technology Board has obtained the provincial government’s approval for it.

The primary goals of the program include increasing access to broadband and internet connectivity, improving the delivery of digital services, preparing for the use of artificial intelligence and promoting cashless transactions. According to the World Bank, the next steps of the program include establishing a committee to oversee artificial intelligence, developing a data governance framework, personal information protection and cybersecurity strategies. The World Bank’s Board of Directors approved the PRID.MPA program on December 19, 2025. The program aims to increase domestic revenue through reforms at the federal and provincial levels, improve the quality of government spending, and improve the delivery of public services through the effective use of data and digital technology.

I am a soldier of Imran Khan, the whole world can neither put a price on me nor scare me, the country is being divided due to wrong policies,

This Test match, after two days, a T20 match will be held, this war is not only for Pashtuns but for the whole of Pakistan, Sohail Afridi addressing the long march

Kohat: The long march started by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has completed its first destination and is now moving towards the next stages. According to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the long march of the PTI led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has reached Kohat from Karak. As part of security and administrative measures, mobile phone and mobile internet services have been completely suspended in Karak and its surrounding areas.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, while addressing the participants of the long march upon reaching Tehsil Lachi of Kohat, said, "I pay tribute to the people of Kohat for the wonderful welcome. The people of Kohat will completely change the weather of Kohat tomorrow. The journey towards Peshawar will start from University Chowk at 3 pm tomorrow." He said, "I am a soldier of Imran Khan. Even if the whole world comes together, it cannot put a price on me. Similarly, the power of the whole world comes together and cannot scare me. We should not tire ourselves. Our struggle is long. The T20 match will start from October 8. Just as Kohat will emerge, Kohat will not give anyone a chance to surpass you. The message is to convey that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs to Imran Khan, it was Imran Khan's and it will remain Imran Khan's.

Earlier, while addressing the participants of the long march at Jail Chowk while departing from Karak, Sohail Afridi said that thieves and robbers cannot be sincere with the country. There is only one leader of the whole of Pakistan, whose name is Imran Ahmed Khan is a Niazi, Imran Khan is the heartbeat of our hearts, 90 percent of the people want Imran Khan, only Imran Khan can pull the country out of the quagmire and restore the honor and dignity of the institutions. Sohail Afridi said that the soldiers who are martyred and sacrifice for the country are a part of our existence, while I see hatred against this current system throughout the country. From Khyber to Karachi, everyone wants to go to Islamabad. You will have to accept our democratic demands. Only the policy that is in favor of the people will be made in Pakistan.

We are rebels against any policy that is not in the interest of the people. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that Imran Khan is serving jail time with courage. If he was greedy for power, he would have signed a petition and come out, but he did not bow down. We have to fight the real war of freedom with Imran Khan. He said that Imran Khan and his entire family are sacrificing for the future of us and our children. After the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the courts are waiting for a chit. Imran Khan is waiting for you. You have to decide whether to accept slavery or want real freedom. You have to decide whether to bow down before the powerful or fight the war of freedom.

The Chief Minister said He further said that people from all corners of Pakistan should reach Swabi where the future course of action will be given. Terrorism was imposed on us under a plan, once again blood is flowing, we are homeless and businesses are being destroyed, an activist sits on TV and says that I am foolish, if it is foolish to stand with my people, then I will repeat this foolishness. Sohail Afridi said that the country is being divided due to wrong policies, the government of which you are a part has committed corruption worth Rs 5300 billion, if this is wisdom for you, then I curse such wisdom, if love for the country is foolish, then I will repeat this foolishness, those who have been imposed want to create prejudice in the country, the situation has gone beyond their control, those who have been resettled have also gone beyond their control, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was being forced to be part of the wrong policy.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that I am a player of the founding PTI, I have said absolutely not, the decision makers in closed rooms have divided the country But a party has imposed it, the Chief Minister of this party says that I am not in danger from India but from three provinces, Sohail Afridi said that I am seeing hatred against this system in the whole country, from Khyber to Karachi everyone wants to go to Islamabad, our democratic demands will have to be accepted. He said that this is a test match, after two days it will be made a T20 match, this war is not only of Pashtuns but of the whole of Pakistan. We have seen peace only in the three and a half years of the founder PTI, we will call the policy of harassment an absolute no which will not be in favor of the people.

Islamabad: Talks between the federal government and the opposition on the current political situation have been postponed until today. The first round of talks between the government and the opposition began at 12 noon and the second round after Friday prayers, at the end of which the parties agreed to adjourn the talks until today and continue the talks. The talks continued for several hours, after which the parties agreed to meet again at 2 pm today. According to the National Assembly spokesperson, the meeting discussed the country’s political situation and various issues in detail. During this time, members of the government, the PPP and the opposition informed each other of their respective positions, while detailed discussions were held on various issues. According to the statement, the government delegation stressed the need to resolve national issues with the opposition through talks.

After the talks, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar expressed satisfaction over the negotiation process and said that the first day of the talks had passed in a good atmosphere. He said that we have informed each other of our respective positions, and it is hoped that matters will improve. Opposition Leader in the Senate Raja Nasir Abbas also said in response to questions from journalists that during the talks, the government members’ behavior was appropriate. The government delegation presented its point and we presented ours. Negotiations will resume today at 2 pm.

Delegations from the government and the opposition participated in the talks held in the chamber of the Speaker of the National Assembly on Friday, during which members of the PPP were also present. The government’s negotiating delegation was led by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, while other members included Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Rana Sanaullah. Senators Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar and Ijaz Jakhrani participated in the negotiations from the PPP. The opposition’s negotiating team included Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar, former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Aamir Dogar and Salman Akram Raja. During this, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the government and opposition leaders on the situation and law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to sources, during the talks, there was a heated exchange between the PTI and the government team on some issues, however, there was no disruption in the talks between the two sides and the talks continued. According to sources, during the talks in the committee room, bitter words were exchanged between Rana Sanaullah and Raja Nasir Abbas while discussing judicial matters. Raja Nasir Abbas criticized and disappointed the government's measures of not implementing court decisions and banning meetings with the founding chairman. On this occasion, Rana Sanaullah took the position that the courts are doing their job and the government will ensure the implementation of court decisions related to the long march.

The government delegation, while taking a strong stance, made it clear that an attack on Islamabad in the name of protest will never be allowed and threatening to attack the long march or Adiala Jail is not a correct political attitude. Sources say that government members also took the position that not only the government but also the opposition should show flexibility. At this point, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq intervened and urged the parties to move matters forward through understanding.

According to sources, PPP members remained mostly silent during the talks. The second round of talks between the government and the opposition began after Friday prayers. During this time, after exchanging recommendations from both sides, the parties were engaged in separate consultations with their respective members. According to sources, opposition leaders remained present in the Speaker’s Chamber and kept their leaders informed about the progress in the talks and the issues under discussion. On the other hand, government members consulted on the demands and recommendations presented by the opposition in the conference room of the Speaker’s Chamber. During the talks, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah also contacted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and informed him about the progress in the talks.

Before reaching the committee room, reporters asked Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq whether he was playing a facilitating role in the negotiations and whether any results would be achieved from this process. In response, the Speaker recited the first verse of Surah Fatiha, ‘Alhamdulillah, Rabb al-Alameen’ and said that he was only playing the role of a facilitator and prayed that the negotiations would be successful. Negotiations are the only way to resolve differences of opinion and problems.
